About MordiWriters

Founded in 1995 by Mairi Neil, the Mordialloc Writers Group is a diverse group of writers, united by a love of writing.  We welcome poets, playwrights, novelists, script writers, historians – anyone who enjoys the craft of writing! The group is convened by Mairi and meets fortnightly at the Mordialloc Neighbourhood House at 457 Main St, Mordialloc, to workshop members’ work in progress.   We wecome and encourage new members in a friendly and nurturing environment.

The group publishes an anthology of members’ work as often as they can, to showcase their talent.  To date nearly 60 writers have been published under the auspices of Mordialloc Writers’ Group, the  most recent publication being Off the Rails, (2012), edited and published by Mairi Neil.  Amongst other fine pieces of writing, the anthology features the short story, ‘Letter to an Elderly Poet’ by Glenice Whitting, author of From Pickle to Pie (Ilura Press 2007) and a long-standing member of the group. In the anthologies you will find poems, short stories, anecdotes, family and local history and memoir – writing reflecting the diversity of the group.

Other publications by the Mordialloc Writers ‘ Group include

  • Writers by the Bay
  • Casting a Line
  • Up the Creek…with a pen!
